Gustavo Angeles arrived to the United States in 1994. His remembrance of the experience was that he stepped into a “culture clash” between the Mexico he knew then, and the 90’s scene that Phoenix housed. When Angeles arrived in Arizona in his early 20’s, he knew no English, so he dedicated himself to integrating into the American lifestyle by learning English, and eventually earning his GED. Now, Angeles considers himself a Chicano, since he has been living in the state since 1994.
Professionally, Angeles has been a musician for 27 years. His inspirations come from classic rock artists such as Jimmie Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and many more. These musical influences are infused with his Mexican and Spanish guitar roots. His diverse guitar range spans from Tres Cubano, Flamenco, Electric, Blues, and Spanish guitar.
Angeles also played in the first rock and Española band in Phoenix named, “Casa de Loco,” the House of the Crazy One, until the band separated in 1997. Since then, Angeles has toured the world playing his unique style of music.
Currently, Gustavo Angeles can be found working at the Blue Coyote Cantina at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. Angeles is grateful that he is able to grow as a musician independently, and can branch out as a one-man-band.
